Relative to the church in Ephesus, Paul makes a statement in Ephesians 4:11 “And He gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds, and teachers.” In others words, the ministry of building up God’s people to advance His kingdom is bestowed upon certain individuals.
To be called into this demanding, yet rewarding work of ministry is less about qualifications and more about reliance upon the Holy Spirit. It truly is an honor and privilege to be a minister in His name.
But God doesn’t just call ministers into His service. He extends a call to all people to receive the gift of salvation through belief and confession through the Lord Jesus. He also calls believers into acts of service, unto one another as well as those who are hurting or in need.
God is calling out to all of us in some way, we just have to adhere to the words of Jesus in Matthew 11:15: “Whoever has ears to hear, let him hear.”
